Some Jehovah’s Witnesses came around this morning. I decided to go all Socratic on them, and just ask them questions. It didn’t last very long.

She did. But I cut her off because it made the cartoon work better.
Her full suggestion, "Well, read the Bible again. But not to prove anything." Works better without it.

Jehovah's witnesses don't believe in Hell. They just believe you will be forgotten by God. They base their religion on (Joseph Franklin Rutherford) faulty translation. The dead sea scrolls contain more than 50 full copies of the scroll of Isaiah (which happens to contain the most prophecies about the Messiah. the scrolls predate Jesus the Messiah by at least 100 years. The scrolls refer to Christ as God in chapter 9:6 The bible is the most credible book of its time.

There is no definitive proof that the Book of Isaiah predicted the life of Jesus. It predicted the coming of a Messiah. There are many people of the Jewish faith who aren't convinced that it was Jesus, and are still waiting for him.

Most of that Old Testament stuff that Christians say is about Jesus, Jews say is about them. And since they wrote it, they should know.

From the cartoon: Why do you want to think that everything's getting worse and worse? what is it about that view that does it for you?
It helps me to explain why the doomsday clock is at 5 minutes to midnight and not 10AM. It helps me to explain why Newsweek runs a cover story: "What The @#$! is Next?" It helps me to explain why Economist runs the cover story "World on the Edge." It helps me to explain why top finance people can crash the entire worldwide economy without anyone at all held accountable.
Alright, I suppose one can overdo the "doom and gloom" but I wouldn't go the other extreme. Is it really a "don't worry, be happy" world? (I've kept this post on the back burner, thinking I might one day write an answer to it….which might make for a nice exchange, hope you don't mind)
