My mom and Dad were huge George Carlin fans. They used to play me the hippy dippy weatherman Al Sleet all the time (it was tame and well before the blue period). They were into their comedy records and I was raised listening to Nichols & May, Robert Kline, and Bob Newhart. I dug out the Redd Foxx and Moms Mabley records when they weren’t home, they were…educational.
Carlin was a linguist’s dream huh? I’d have to throw him near the philosopher catagory too. Too bad he’ll be known by non-fans as responsible for all those spurious email forwards that go around claiming they contain Carlin material.
